KFC Double Down Death

Tuesday, April 13th, 2010

Saturday Night Live said it best: “You could eat it, or for just one dollar more, the cashier will stab you directly in the heart.”

This is a perfect example of “just because you can doesn’t mean you should!”

According to the nutrition guide at http://www.kfc.com/nutrition the Double Down Sandwich has 540 calories, 1,380 mgs of sodium, 145 mgs cholesterol, and 32 gms of fat. The grilled version isn’t much better. It’s shocking that anyone would eat this stuff considering that the American Heart Association’s recommendation that adults eat less than 1,500 milligrams of sodium per day and that sandwich contains half of a day’s intake of fat. Wow! Can you imagine the damage to your body? Can you imagine the damage this garbage would do to child? It makes me angry. Green, vegan Hulk angry.

Now I know they have the right to sell what they want, but what about responsibility? We already know that KFC has somewhat of a shady past with the treatment of chickens, so why not step it up? Why not offer something that is healthy? Simple – because people will buy it.

Obesity is an epidemic blight on our country. This gluttonous sandwich is an example of why we have such widespread problems with weight. Seriously, if you want to eat chicken then but a good cut from a reliable butcher (preferably a local, organic farm) and cook it yourself. Don’t eat anything that is as devastating as this little fat laden gem.

Sir, step away from the Double Down and no one gets hurt!
